Niabi
R.I.P My Darling
One thing for sure I didn't find Niabi, she found me.
Ever since the beginning Niabi has been my "poster" fur-child for what I stand for and what my main goal is to achieve when working with horses from all backgrounds.
"She's my best-friend. One that listens and holds no judgment. She is just one of a kind."
When I purchased Niabi, she had not been ridden, nor touched for 4 years. She was confused, had a basic education, with also a long hard endurance background. Niabi was originally from New South Wales before coming here to Victoria. She had extreme trust issues to the point of not being able to lay a brush or hand on any part of her body. After I began to work with her using my methods I started creating a bond and partnership with her. Riding was not main goal I wanted with her at that early point. I had just wished to be "around" her, and let her get use to me.
After a period of time of slow riding at the beginning and more years go by I've found her to be an extremely intelligent Mare and trust-worthy horse--I can say with pride that I completely trust her with my life and not once have I felt in danger, nor have fallen off of her in the years I have had her.
Niabi has been with me for 11 years now and is a well educated girl now, with a quirky cheeky personality. Always making me laugh! She is diffidently one of a kind. There has been many milestones in her life (A Fire and 2 floods) that with each day she makes me proud. Her journey, one that is still going with me, will last with me forever.
Niabi is now at age 22, and shows no signs of slowly down. Hardly! She makes me proud that I put in that effort to gain her trust and make a partnership at the beginning. We are in sync you could say. She has had people ride her that have a acquired brain injury(Learning disability), suffered a stroke at an early age, to a one arm rider( Me!), even kids to complete beginner teenagers and all of them have finished with smiles on their faces.
I know when she is sick or even wanting a cuddle, and it is all by watching her body language, as well as knowing her personality.
I am still praised to this day on our bond we share, by people, some friends and even strangers we have meet along the way. I laugh and smile because I'm even amazed by what we are still archiving together.

(2012)
No bridle or lead, just a piece of rope around neck and a great bond.
Niabi is officially retired from riding!
She is now living in luxury with me still, fat and happy!

Sad news, that I've only been able to put up now.
My beautiful Niabi passed away at the age of 23, at 4pm August the 1st at Narre Warren North Equine Hospital from complications of colic. She passed away in my arms with kisses of love, surrounded by my Father and Mother who were there to support me and give Niabi a loving goodbye. Niabi put up a strong battle through-out the day but wasn't able to pull through. She gave it her all and that's the brave Niabi I knew. She was a fighter!
Niabi was cremated and has her finale resting spot in my home. She was my heart horse and hopefully one day I will see her again in all her beautiful glory.
